The ruins are a good walk out, take comfortable shoes and depending on the weather maybe a sweater (it started to rain for us). It's definitely worth the drive! You can enter an old food storage area, I had a great time here!!! The history here is very important to the development of the united States
We enjoyed our visit to PNHP. The walking tour was very pleasant through the ruins. The country side is beautiful. The gift shop was worth a visit. I got a tshirt
Great place to visit. Rich history. There is an annual Peace Day when the native Pecos Pueblos return to honor their ancestors. They have a procession that comes from St. Anthony's church to the park. They hold mass in the old church then have dancing, drumming and lunch. It's a great ceremony!
Beautiful place to visit and a ton of interesting facts to see and learn about. Really lends perspective to how ingenious Native Americans were and just how well they were able to adapt to their surroundings and make the most of what the land provided. A little hard to find from I-25 so be on the lookout for signs if you want to visit.
I visited from another state, this place is definitely a ways out. The information provided in the visitor center was very informative and we'll put together.
Such a great educational display and a solid, though dated, film about the area.
Warning! Google maps GPS can send you to the wrong place!! But don't give up, ask around in a gas station if this happens to you. The GPS took me to a gas station, but they were quick to direct me.
Sadly in a way, there is no funding to collect fees and so this wonderful National spot is likely not seen to be pulling it's weight...the archeological remains of both indigenous and Spanish conquest are stunning.
